Course Description

Our flow yoga practice has so many incredible benefits for the body and mind, but lacks the focused and direct stimulation to joint and connective tissue, as most of our Vinyasa/Hatha postures promote muscular engagement. Enter: Yin Yoga! This practice is well known for affecting joint and connective tissue through passive floor holds of about 3-5 minutes. A passive hold where we let go of muscular engagement enables us to access joints and fascia pathways. The postures of Yin Yoga (many of them coming from the Hatha tradition!) offer us a unique internal lens to observe our sensation in stillness, and create connection through neuromuscular pathways that aid us in proprioception, body awareness, and cultivating more easeful movement in our daily lives. This yin yoga for your hips series will focus on working around the circumference of the hip socket through slow movement and accessible floor postures that care for our joints and create a more gentle and contemplative approach to our yoga practice. All levels are welcome!
