One of the well-documented detriments to being caught in the chronic stress loop is a steep decline in our ability to hear and an even more impaired ability to process what we do hear. Additionally, being super sensitive to sound is a sign that our nervous system is dysregulated.

 

The flip side is that we can use our sense of hearing to hack our nervous system and down regulate ourselves into rest-digest-tend-befriend mode.
