Course Description
Pilates is a low impact exercise method that focuses on controlling muscle movements with precision and mind-body connection. Joseph Pilates created this technique to encourage mindfulness in strength building movements, rehabilitation with light weights and bands, and implement breath control and core connection. In this class, we'll primarily focus on classical mat pilates moves from Joseph Pilates with some contemporary complements. We'll begin with a short warm-up, then move through three distinct blocks of work that place a muscular focus on core, glutes, and arms, and end with static stretching and breath awareness. You'll need a set of light weights (2 or 3 lbs each), a thick band called a "booty band," and a yoga block.
